I’m focused on Idaho’s future. Will you join me?
This campaign is powered by everyday Idahoans like you.
A legacy of service.
A focus on the future.
Hello! My name is Monica Church and I’m proud to be running for the Idaho Legislature (District 19 Seat A) here in my hometown of Boise.
After nearly two decades working as a school teacher, I’m eager to advocate for Idaho’s students, educators, and public schools in the Statehouse. Public schools are the great equalizer – particularly in predominantly rural states like Idaho – and the essential hearts of our communities. It is our legislature’s constitutional duty to protect those schools and deliver on the promise of free, uniform public education, and I will take that duty seriously.
In addition to my work as an educator, I’m proud to sit on the boards of the Andrus Center for Public Policy in the School of the Environment at Boise State, and the Sawtooth Society in Stanley, Idaho, working to preserve and protect Idaho’s wild and scenic spaces. I am also honored to be an appointed Ethics Commissioner for the City of Boise, and an Idaho Delegate for the United States Global Leadership Coalition in Washington, D.C.. And I’m a proud union member of the Boise Education Association, a union that continues to lead the charge for teachers across Idaho.
As granddaughter of Cecil and Carol Andrus and Frank and Bethine Church, my passion for the Great State of Idaho and a commitment to service runs deep. I’ve always sought to honor the legacy of my grandparents, their abiding love of our state, and their commitment to our shared Democratic values. Running for office marks the next step in a life-long journey of public service, and one I’m excited to take.
My family and I live in Boise’s North End, with a garage full of bikes and muddy paw prints.
I’d love to hear from you! Send me a message with any questions or comments.
You can use this form to send me a message! I want to know what questions and concerns you have so I can better represent our neighborhood and our district in the Idaho Legislature.
(We have given out all our signs! Thank you to all who volunteered to put one in their yard. If you weren’t able to get a sign, please consider a t-shirt!)
In the Idaho Legislature, I will strive to:
Prioritize fully funded K-12 education, pre-k investment, affordable and equitable access to higher education and technical schools
Work with pro-public education policymakers to create a budget for state funding for CTE endorsements for current Idaho teachers
Create a coalition to advance the early childhood program expansion of the Boise School District to other parts of the state with directives to include qualified educators in all parts of the replication and evaluation of the program
Advance land conservation and healthy environmental policies and, promote Idaho- grown sustainable science-based agricultural products and practices
Defend our clean air, clean water, and access to public lands
Work with policymakers in impacted communities to attain a local tax option for cities and counties to meet the needs of their constituents and safeguard Idaho’s most valued resources - children, the elderly, public health, and the environment
Drive economic development policies that promote growth, workers' rights, small businesses, and sustainability
Support policies that ensure we have abundant housing, affordable housing, and a place to live for every Idahoan of every background
Expand access to affordable healthcare, including complete women's healthcare, elderly care, mental healthcare, and preventative care
Speak up for the dignity, privacy, and essential human rights of Idahoans
Defend voting rights and access to the ballot for every generation of voters
